Events for 2018


March 16th - 18th

The Great Lakes Region and the Madison Japanese Karate Club are hosting the AAKF Spring seminar in Madison, WI. The sessions are:

  • Friday (adults only): noon - 3 pm and 5 pm - 8 pm
  • Saturday (all ages): 9 am - noon and 1 pm - 4 pm
  • Sunday (all ages): 8 am - noon

Dan Rank exams and technical qualification exams will take place on Saturday at 4 pm.

April 13th - 14th

The 26th Windy City Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 14 at the Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, IL. On Friday, April 13, there will be a seminar from 5 pm to 8 pm at the same venue, featuring Mr. Allen, Mr. Renfrow, Mr. Gaviola, and Mr. Gonzales.

The children events will start at 9:00 am
Teens and adults will start at 1 pm

Tournament cost: $40 one event, $75 two events, $95 three events, 120 four events
Seminar cost: $100

April 20th - 21st

The AAKF North Central region is hosting a seminar with guest instructor Sensei Minarik from Canada at Sensei Fusaro's dojo, 913 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. The event will be on Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am to noon and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Participation fee is $120 for the full seminar, and $70 for one session (youth/student discounts are available).

June 19th - 23rd

The 57th AAKF National Championships will take place in Lexington, South Carolina. The AAKF Interenational Camp will be from June 19-21, and the ompetition will take place on Friday, June 22, and Saturday. June 23.

June 30th

Sensei David Gimberline will be at the Madison Japanese Karate Club on Saturday, June 30th. The seminar will focus on using blocks for self-defence and the corresponding kata applications.
